Umrah budget calculator: compare two quotes

Enter your own figures in pounds for the whole travelling party. If a quote is per person, first ask the provider for the actual group total. Include adults and children in the same group for both quotes.

This is a calculation tool, not a live price estimate, offer or recommendation. Amounts stay on this page; nothing is uploaded or saved. Enter 0 for additional costs only when you have checked none are missing.

Quote A
Quote B

Additional costs could include excluded meals, baggage, transport and compulsory charges. Do not count a service twice. Unknown costs make the comparison incomplete.

Prepare your travel preferences or ask Madni Umrah a planning question. Do not send passport or payment documents in an initial enquiry.

There is no single Umrah price that applies to every UK traveller. Dates, room arrangements, flight routes, trip length and included services can change the total. The useful question is not simply “What is the cheapest package?” It is “What will this particular journey cost our party, and what do we receive for that amount?”

This guide gives you a repeatable way to answer that question. It works with a written quote supplied by a travel business or with figures you collect while planning. You do not need to know every cost immediately. You do need to distinguish confirmed amounts, estimates and unanswered questions, so an incomplete total does not look more certain than it really is.

Start with the party, dates and rooms

Write down the number of adults and children, the children's ages at travel, your departure window and the rooms required. These details define what you are pricing. A per-person figure based on four adults sharing cannot automatically be used for a couple requiring their own room, or for a family whose children need separate beds.

Record the number of hotel nights in each city as well as the travel dates. A headline described in days may include overnight flights. If the first room is not available until the afternoon after an early arrival, decide whether that arrangement works for your party and whether an extra night should be priced.

Keep this specification identical when asking for alternatives. If one proposal changes the airport, room sharing or number of nights, label it as an alternative itinerary rather than treating it as a directly cheaper version of the same journey. Our quote comparison guide explains the same principle in more detail.

Divide the budget into clear categories

Use four columns: item, confirmed price, estimate or unknown, and evidence. The evidence can be a dated quote, a supplier email or a link you still need to check. This makes it easier to see whether a number is reliable and who must answer the remaining question.

Your categories should include the quoted travel arrangements, UK airport travel, baggage beyond the allowance, meals outside the board basis, local transport not included and any other specific planned expense. Do not add an item twice. If a transfer is included in the quote, record it as included rather than adding an estimated transfer cost to the total again.

Keep discretionary spending separate from unavoidable costs. A shopping allowance is not the same as an airport transfer needed to reach your hotel. Combining everything into one unexplained figure makes it difficult to understand where a meaningful saving could be made without changing the essential journey.

A worked comparison: why the headline can mislead

Imagine a party of four receives Quote A for £4,800 in total and Quote B for £5,120. These are fictional figures used only to demonstrate arithmetic. On the headline alone, A appears £320 lower. That is not yet enough information to decide which is better value.

Suppose A excludes transfers priced at £240 for the party and additional baggage that the party needs, costing £120. Its comparable total becomes £5,160. Suppose B already includes those same arrangements, with all other relevant details genuinely equivalent. B is then £40 lower on this limited comparison: £5,160 minus £5,120.

The example does not suggest that the more expensive quote is always better. If B used a different hotel, fewer nights or room arrangements your party disliked, you would need to assess those differences too. Cost comparison is about making the assumptions visible, not finding a mathematical excuse to prefer a particular seller.

Calculate the average per traveller carefully

Once you have the full-party total, divide it by the number travelling if an average is useful. In the example, £5,160 divided by four is £1,290. This is an average for that fictional party, not necessarily the price charged for each adult or child.

Ask the provider to explain the actual payment allocation if different fares or room charges apply. An average can help compare household budgets, but it must not disguise a child's different price, a single-room supplement or a service that applies to only part of the party.

The same care applies when relatives contribute different amounts. Agree that arrangement privately rather than assuming the booking provider will resolve it. Your comparison worksheet should show the total liability and payment schedule clearly, regardless of how your household intends to share the cost.

Compare flights using the whole journey

The fare is only one part of the flight decision. Record the airline, departure airport, destination airport, connections, total elapsed time, baggage allowance and ticket arrangement. A less expensive fare may create additional airport travel, a hotel stay before departure or a longer journey that does not suit your party.

Do not assume that direct flights are always more expensive or that connecting flights are always better value. Compare real options for your dates. Check whether a flight arrives at a time that creates an extra accommodation or transfer requirement, and include that requirement in the same comparison.

For Manchester-based travellers, our Manchester planning guide helps separate departure logistics from destination arrangements. It does not advertise a current airline schedule. Confirm the actual route and timings with the seller or airline before relying on them.

Understand what the hotel price buys

Ask for the exact hotel, room category, occupancy, bed arrangement, dates and meals included. A quoted star category is not a substitute for the property name and room specification. If the provider may substitute a hotel, read the relevant terms and ask how an alternative would be assessed.

Location can affect both cost and usability. A hotel further away might have a shuttle, but its operating arrangements matter. A nearby hotel might still involve a route that is challenging for someone in your party. Do not turn an approximate map distance into an assumed walking time without checking the actual route.

Food arrangements also need precision. “Meals included” should identify the board basis and relevant conditions. If only some meals are provided, make a separate planning allowance for the remainder. Use your own realistic household assumptions rather than presenting someone else's daily spending as a universal requirement.

Transfers and local transport deserve their own line

Clarify which journeys are included: airport to hotel, movement between Makkah and Madinah, hotel to airport and any other advertised transport. Record whether each service is private or shared, how many travellers and bags it accommodates and how meeting instructions will be provided.

Ask what happens if a flight is delayed or a requested time changes. A price without operating details is difficult to evaluate. Where a cost is still unknown, write “not confirmed” instead of entering zero. A blank amount should remain a question, not quietly become a saving.

If your party plans transport outside the supplied itinerary, keep it separate from the provider's obligations. This helps avoid later disagreements about an item that was discussed informally but never included in the written arrangements.

What makes dates more or less expensive?

Demand, available airline seats, hotel inventory and the exact travel period can all affect quotations. Ramadan and school-holiday preferences may narrow your options, but that does not justify inventing a fixed seasonal premium. Compare dated quotes for the same specification if you want evidence of the difference.

Similarly, there is no guaranteed cheapest month for every party. A flexible traveller may find a suitable lower-cost option outside a preferred period, while another traveller's available airport or room needs may change the result. Treat claims about the “best time” as prompts to compare, not as an offer.

A practical method is to request two or three acceptable departure windows. Keep the number of nights and room requirements consistent. Note when each quote was prepared and when it expires. If the arrangements change later, compare the updated written proposal rather than relying on the original headline.

Add a contingency without hiding uncertainty

A contingency is money your household sets aside for uncertainty or discretionary needs. It is not a supplier charge and should not be presented as part of a confirmed quote. Decide the amount based on your own circumstances and how complete your itinerary is.

An unanswered essential cost should still appear separately. For example, if an airport transfer is unconfirmed, do not simply assume your contingency will cover it. Ask for the cost and arrangements before making a commitment. Contingency planning cannot replace a clear contract.

Keep exchange-rate assumptions visible where you are estimating spending in another currency. Record the rate and date used, and remember that the amount you actually pay may depend on your payment method and fees. Avoid presenting a conversion estimate as a guaranteed charge.

Check payment terms before judging affordability

A journey can fit your total budget but have a payment schedule that is difficult for your household. Ask when any deposit and balance would be due, what is refundable, what happens after a change and which legal business receives the money. Read the actual terms rather than relying on a short message describing a payment as “secure”.

Where travel protection is claimed, verify it through the appropriate official route and confirm its application to the specific booking. Start with the CAA's ATOL information for relevant flight-inclusive arrangements. This guide does not establish that any Madni Umrah arrangement has ATOL protection.

The before-you-book page helps organise these checks. If contractual wording is unclear, ask the provider for an explanation and obtain independent advice where necessary. Do not use a comparison spreadsheet as a substitute for understanding your obligations.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a seven-day Umrah journey cost?

There is no verified universal figure in this guide. Ask for a dated quotation based on your party, rooms, airport and actual hotel nights. Compare the full cost and inclusions rather than assuming that every seven-day description means the same itinerary.

Does a cheaper quote mean a worse journey?

Not necessarily. It may reflect different dates, rooms, services or available inventory. Establish the differences first. A lower price can be good value when the arrangements are genuine, clear and suitable for your party.

Can Madni Umrah's calculator confirm a price?

No. The current tool compares figures you enter. It does not retrieve live fares, check hotel availability, issue a quotation or reserve anything. Unknown items still require a provider's answer.
